THE closing ceremony for the three-day “Bengkel Bahasa” (Malay Language Workshop) was held yesterday at the Sengkurong Language and literature Bureau Library (DBP).
The workshop was conducted by Mohd Azurin bin Othman, Language Officer from the Language and Literature Bureau (DBP).

Hajah Aminah binti Haji Momin quoted the titah of His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam during the celebration of the Golden Jubilee of the Language and literature Bureau Library (DBP) at the Brunei International Convention Centre (BICC) on September 17, 2011.
When Hajah Aminah binti Haji Momin was asked on how to empower the Malay language among the youth, she said, “The first and foremost way is through reading Malay literature, by practicing good reading the youth will be able to use the language in a proper manner. Another way is by conversing in Malay through everyday life. By doing this the youth will be able to familiarise with Malay words and they won’t have to result in using English words as alternatives when conversing.”
Certificates were presented to the participants of the workshop at the end of the ceremony. A keepsake and certificate were given to Hajah Khairah binti Haji Zakaria, from Sekolah Tinggi Perempuan Raja Isteri for being the Best Participant in the workshop.
